Celebrate, Caden's Eight!

We LOVE birthdays in our home and enjoy making them extra special! It only happens once a year you know!

Here is our cute boy with his "tinfoil presents", a traditional birthday morning celebration which consists of silly dollar store gifts. This is great to tie them over to the evening where they pick their favorite dinner and open the real presents. Caden chose his favorite meal, Japanese Sundaes (Hawaiin Haystacks). He had 3 helpings so it was a good thing to serve him. Caden was glad to get his new found tradition of a poster-board sign placed on the van's window. I did this for Carter's 9th birthday and Caden wanted the exact same treatment. Except this sign didn't stay on as well and I had to pull off to the side of the road to retrieve it. Hmmm...how will I ever blow out this ridiculous looking cake...oh well, ready set..BLOW! Do you notice that Emery is right in on the action? She loves birthdays as much as I do. She was right by his side at his friend party too. Oh and yes...do you love my elaborate choices of birthday cakes? Talk about the easy way out. Thank goodness that Caden is very easy to please. What a great quality to possess!Caden got a motor scooter-yay! This was something he was thrilled about. He had been wanting one for a while so what a perfect thing to surprise him with. Emery was even more excited about it. We didn't let her in on the secret until the day of his birthday so she wouldn't spill the beans. After we ate dinner and he finished opening his gifts we brought it around the corner and Emery was screaming with so much enthusiasm anticipating his reaction. "You'll love it Caden, ohh I can't wait!" Ofcourse he was thrilled....the volume was just turned down a bit! You know...the whole boy vs. girl reactions. We know he was excited though cuz he did not have time to blow out his candles. He was out on that scooter into the neigborhood before we could even blink an eye. I had to chase him down so that we could sing to him. He has been riding it ever since. What did he ever do without it?!
